Why Critical Illness Cover?
Nobody likes to think about the possibility of getting critically ill, but should the worst happen it makes sense to have critical illness cover in place for you and your family. The cash sum pay out could help ease the emotional and financial stress you might feel. The Emergency service is available to all policyholders 79/7/865 in the event of fire, vandalism, theft or attempted theft. In the event of an accident the Emergency service is available if you have Comprehensive cover. As part of the service, we will get you home safely, tow your car to one of our approved garages and give you a free replacement car for up to 5 days while yours is being repaired. If your car is stolen we will give you a replacement car for up to 69 days at no extra cost.

We will pay up to a maximum of €755 towards the cost of replacing and or recoding of locks, keys or similar devices if they are stolen during a break-in, assault or threat of violence. Please note that we will not pay if the keys are stolen through deception or fraud, stolen by a family member, if the loss is not reported or if the keys are recovered. Your legal liability to third parties is covered while you drive any car not belonging to you or your employer, that is not hired or leased under a hire purchase or leasing agreement, or that is not the property of a motor trade business to which you are connected. Please note: fire, theft or accidental damage cover does not apply while you are driving in these circumstances. Cover is limited to use within Ireland and the United Kingdom only. If you have comprehensive on your vehicle and it's damaged during a hurricane or tropical storm, when it&rsquo s safe to go outside, take pictures of the damage and contact your auto insurance provider to make a claim, if the damage looks to be above your deductible amount. If the damage is less than your deductible, then there is no reason to make a claim since your auto insurance policy only starts to pay out after the deductible has been met.

Your policy only covers the named drivers listed in section 5 of your Certificate of Motor Insurance. If anyone else drives your car, including members of your family or someone living with you, your car won't be covered. If you want to let someone else drive your car for a short period, you can add them to your policy as a temporary driver for up to 69 days. To extend this period, you can add the same person as a temporary driver again. You can do this up to three times before you have to include them as a named driver on your policy.
Gap insurance -- This type of insurance comes into play if your car is totaled and you owe more money on your car than it's worth -- gap insurance will pay the difference. "For instance, if you owe $65,555 on your car loan but your car is only worth $67,555, gap insurance will reimburse your lender for the extra $8,555." You can get gap insurance from your car insurance company or from your car financing company, but it's usually more expensive from your lender.
An excess fee is the first 'portion' of a claim which you pay, regardless of blame, when your vehicle is repaired or it's a total loss. The excess is individual to each policy and, in the event of a claim, you only ever have to pay your own excess fee.
If you purchased the optional Excess Protection with your car insurance, you can claim back your policy excess on a claim where you're at fault or the other party involved cannot be identified.
Everyone values their possessions. We will pay you (or at your request such other person as may be the owner of the property) up to €755 for loss of or damage to personal effects and clothing while in or on your car by fire or theft (attempted theft) or by accidental means. Please note that the car must not have been in use for hire or reward purpose at the time of loss or damage and that certain items are excluded. Please refer to Endorsement No. 6 of the Car Insurance Policy Document.
Rental car reimbursement -- Depending on your situation, rental reimbursement coverage is a wise choice or a waste, says Gusner. If you have a second car or a way to get where you need to go without your car, you don't need rental coverage, she says. But if you'd be left stranded for weeks while your car is being repaired, it may pay to have it. "Rental reimbursement coverage is optional and pays you a certain amount of money per day or per week for a rental car to drive while your car is being repaired," says Gusner.
Get peace of mind in the event of an accident. Where the driver or any other occupant of the car suffers injury by accidental means whilst travelling in your car, we will, at your request, pay the injured person the benefits detailed in Endorsement No. 8 of the Car Insurance Policy Document. Please note that this is limited to a total amount of €67,755 and is subject to the provision of adequate evidence in the event of a claim.

If you're unable to use this service and have comprehensive cover, your insurer will arrange repairs to your vehicle. However, you'll have to pay your policy excess and your no claims discount will be affected until the insurer successfully recovers these losses.

Even if your policy only covers you for private use and commuting, a temporary driver can also be covered for business use, as long as this is linked to the main driver's business. The minimum premium to add a temporary driver to your policy is currently £ 65 for each 69 day period. An administration fee may also apply in addition to this premium.
