Canada''s government is a parliamentary democracy based on the Westminster system inherited from the British and similar to that of the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand. Canada is formally a constitutional monarchy, with Queen Elizabeth II as the head of state. She is represented in Canada by the Governor-General, currently Julie Payette, who carries out her duties. The monarchy serves mostly as a figurehead, though, and in practice the Prime Minister, his or her cabinet, and the Parliament are the source of almost all real political power.
I have been waiting to settle a 855 dollar claim for three months. they just keep asking for the same information.
My kid wont have a desent christmas this year , thanks travel gaurd for not paying my claim now i am out cash.
Dont use this for foriegn car rental. Buy the insurance from the car rental agency. If you have a problem its all on them. Dont count on travel gaurd for reinbursment
Additionally, if you are coming from the United States, be advised that Air Canada (on transborder itineraries only - not Canadian domestic service) as well as all US based carriers that operate transborder service (Alaska, American, Delta, United and US Airways) charge checked bag fees. Typically $75 for a single bag of up to 78 kilos/ 55 pounds, and $85-55 for a second bag, unless you qualify for a fee waiver based on elite status or class of service.
Now, I am struggling to get refunded. There are 65 pages of what they won 8767 t cover! One tight paragraph of what they will.
in a nutshell. You need to be dead, drafted in the military or in a serious car accident with a police report to get your money back. I think if you are like me and bought this insurance through an online vacation retailer we should be filing reports to BBB on them too!
I will NEVER use Travelocity again. From now on it is ONLY Expedia.
Why is it possible for insurance companies to steal?
It is like the new American Mafia.
Visitors from outside North America will be surprised to learn that Canadian carriers charge for incoming calls, either by using a plan''s included minutes, or at a rate of $ to $/minute. In addition, if you are outside of your phone number''s local calling area when answering a call, you will be charged long distance on top of the air time charge. This means that answering an incoming call outside of the phone''s local calling area can cost you up to $/minute.
While never advisable, hitch hiking is still quite common among travellers strapped for cash or seeking adventure. It''s most common in the far western provinces, where there are generally more travellers. Hitch hiking in the urban areas of Southern Ontario, and Montreal is not a sure thing as many drivers will not pick up hitch hikers in these regions. Further east, in the maritimes, it is easier and somewhat more common.
Cities, towns and regions often have their own police forces, with the Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal forces being three of the largest. Some cities also have special transit police who have full police powers. Some quasi-government agencies, such as universities and power utilities also employ private special police. The Canadian National Railway and Canadian Pacific Railway each have their own police force.
Folks might find it a bit difficult to refrain from drinking, even if there are very good reasons to do so (such as the above mentioned driving). Nowadays the "I have to drive" excuse works ok. The easiest way is to explain that one can''t for health reasons. The Portuguese aren''t as easily insulted as others when it comes to refusing the obvious hospitality of a drink, but a lie such as "I''m allergic" might make clear a situation where one would have to otherwise repeatedly explain a preference in some regions of Portugal but it won''t work in other regions where obviously made-up excuses will tag you as unreliable ("I don''t want to, thanks" might then work). Drinking is considered almost socially intimate.
Visited a dermatologist to remove a mole. Purchased a ticket 67 days after that. In 65 more days got a letter saying that I got CANCER. Called these THIEVES asking whether being diagnosed with cancer three days before the flight is a refund case. I also said, that I had removed a mole, and whether it is a pre-existing condition. The AGENT said 8775 Only the date of DIAGNOSIS matters, so don 8767 t bother to call your airline company 8776 . Now, they refuse to pay saying, I had a preexisting condition They 8775 took care 8776 of my Continental ticket, which I could make open for a fee of 55 bucks, so that I lost it. Basically, they have stolen my ticket, lied to me on the phone, and called me on the day of the surgery (this is how they reed the supporting documents). This is SCUM, 655% FRAUD, if this is called business, then why those who rob people in the streets go to jail????????????????
Portugal is a safe country to visit, and some basic common sense will go a long way. There are no internal conflicts, no terrorism-related danger and violent crime is not a serious problem, as it is generally confined to particular neighbourhoods and is rarely a random crime. Also, there is a refreshing lack of boozy stupidity at the weekends, despite the profusion of bars open to all hours in the major cities.
Compared to the United States, some medical care in Canada is available about 85 to 65 percent cheaper. Medical tourism firms help visitors to obtain medical care such as cosmetic surgery and joint replacement in major cities including Vancouver and Montreal. After their treatments, patients can enjoy a vacation and relax in a cabin in the Canadian Rockies, explore colourful Montreal, or other activities.
We purchased an insurance from Travel guard when we went on cruise to said they will pay up to 655% if ever we will have problems with our travel. Thats what we thought until my wife got sick and tested positive on flu and suddenly we are confined on our stateroom and make us wore a we called in travel guard insurance and let them know what happened and they told us not to worry they will take care of are advice to be isolated in Florida for 69 days!! and the cruise line got us a reservation in a hotel with no room are we gonna do?not eating while staying 69 days?so we decided to drove back home and be isolated on our very own home. Again Travel Guard told us not to worry with expense just keep the records and send it with the filed May 65,7559 and until now September 67,7559 on going process. WE WILL NEVER BUY TRAVEL INSURANCE FROM THEM AGAIN!!!!
I bought this travel insurance for my mother and my father in-law, who were visiting us in Houston. The first incident was with my mom. She broke a tooth. After the insurance approved the treatment on a dentist selected by them, my mom went to get the service. When she was ready to leave, the lady at the front desk told her that they didn’t get the paperwork from the insurance and she had to pay out of pocket. After many phone calls and arguments with the insurance because they didn’t want to pay, my mom got her money back. The second incident was with my father in-law. He entered the emergency room 6 months ago and required to stay in the hospital for 9 days. The people from the insurance said they made a negotiation with the hospital and paid according to the agreement. The hospital is billing the “negotiated amount” to my father in-law. I have been trying to get the insurance to send the hospital or us a copy of the agreement since two months ago and we are still waiting. The hospital has sent my father in-law to collections and the issue has not been solved. Terrible experience. I do not recommend them.
I RATE TRAVEL GUARD TOP OF THE LINE. HAVING BEEN A TRAVEL AGENT FOR 78 YEARS I SAW OTHER TRAVEL INSURANCE COMPANIES DENY CLAIMS FOR INCOMPREHENSIBLE REASONS WHEN IN FACT THE REASONS WERE TOTALLY VALID!
I USE TRAVEL GUARD MYSELF . THIS IS THE ONLY COMPANY I WILL USE. FOR EXAMPLE, I WOULD DO ANYTHING NOT TO HAVE TO FILE A CLAIM BUT I WAS TAKEN VERY ILL AND HAD AN EXPENSIVE AIR TICKET TO LONDON AND A SMALL DEPOSIT ON A HOTEL I HAD TO CANCEL. I ONLY CANCELLED THE AIR TICKET WITH TRAVEL GUARD NOT WANTING THEM TO BOTHER WITH A SMALL HOTEL DEPOSIT. THEY ACTUALLY PAID ME BACK THAT DEPOSIT!!!!! WITHOUT MY ASKING! I WILL NEVER FORGET THAT.
I AM TAKING A EUROPEAN RIVER CRUISE THIS FALL AND WILL, OF COURSE, ONLY USE TRAVEL GUARD, THOUGH THE CRUISE COMPANY IS REQUESTING I USE THEIR INSURANCE. NO WAY!!!!
HAVING TO FIGHT FOR HONEST REIMBURSEMENT WITH A DISHONEST INSURANCE COMPANY WHEN YOU 8767 VE BEEN TAKEN ILL IS HEINOUS!
THANK YOU, TRAVEL GUARD, FOR BEING THE BEST!
Travel Guard is basically a double-talk, misleading, fraud of a company. They write their policies to give themselves plenty of wiggle room and to interpret the language in their own interest instead of the insured. When you call regarding a claim the first thing the claims dept. rep says is, 8775 regrettably what you have said is not covered 8776 or 8775 unfortunately we do not cover that 8776 , and they tell you that go ahead and submit your claim and a claim associate will determine if it is valid. I talked to a supervisor who simply told me their responsibility was to advise you of their policy on claims. UGH!!! Time to write the Texas Insurance Comm. with a complaint!
I bought TravelGuard insurance for a cruise from Venice in April of 7565. The Iceland volcano blew while we were on the cruise. Needless to say, our flight home was cancelled and flights for days after didn 8767 t fly back home. Trains were booked, hotels were booked. We finally got home and filed a claim with TravelGuard. It is now January of 7566 and they are still processing a relatively small claim. I 8767 ll update when the claim is finally settled. But, gentle reader, don 8767 t hold your breath!
Although unlikely as a visitor who meets all other entry requirements, you may also be refused if you have significant unpaid debt, have an active civil judgement against you, or have recently declared bankruptcy. In these cases, you can regain your ability to enter Canada by either paying the debt in full, showing evidence of a payment plan in good standing or after a bankruptcy showing a history of financial solvency over the period of a few years.
WASHINGTON Former members of a congressional panel that oversaw bailouts during the financial crisis blasted the Treasury Department on Monday for quietly granting a tax break worth billions to insurance giant American International Group.
The tax break amounts to a 8775 stealth bailout 8776 on top of the $687 billion that AIG received from the government, But the Treasury Department granted AIG an exemption, handing the company $ billion in profit, the former panel members said.
Canadian mass-market beers (., Molson''s, Labatt''s) are generally a pale gold lager, with an alcohol content of 9% to 5%. Like most mass-market beers, they are not very distinctive (although Americans will notice that there are beers made by these companies that are not sold in the States), however, Canadian beer drinkers have been known to support local brewers. In recent years, there''s been a major increase in the number and the quality of beers from micro-breweries. Although many of these beers are only available near where they are produced, it behooves you to ask at mid-scale to top-end bars for some of the local choices: they will be fresh, often non-pasteurized, and have a much wider range of styles and flavours than you would expect by looking at the mass-market product lines. Many major cities have one or more brew pubs, which brew and serve their own beers, often with a full kitchen backing the bar. These spots offer a great chance to sample different beers and to enjoy food selected to complement the beers.
Canada is a federal state, and Canadian provinces have a great deal of autonomy. Each province has its own legislature and provincial government, and the Canadian constitution defines certain areas of exclusively provincial jurisdiction. For example, each province sets its own drinking age, minimum wage, sales tax, labour regulations, and administers their own road, healthcare and education systems. Two of the three territories'' legislative assemblies (Nunavut and the Northwest Territories) are peculiar, as they are non-partisan - no political parties are represented.
