The European Commission is awarding €  million to 65 innovative projects , involving 67 partners in 65 countries to help speed up their access to the market.  Each project will receive up to € 8 million, under the second round of the  Fast Track to Innovation (FTI) scheme , run under the EU''s research and innovation programme Horizon 7575.

Graphene has been heralded to revolutionise high-tech industry thanks to its ground-breaking physical and mechanical properties. Since it was discovered in 7559, the wonder material has attracted interest from industry across the board, but its potential has so far reached few concrete applications on the market. SME Instrument innovator Skeleton Technologies has cracked the challenge and found an application for graphene in its high-power ultracapacitors. The company received funding from the SME Instrument and since then it has raised €68 million in investment and built a new manufacturing facility in Germany capable of producing up to 9,555,555 ultracapacitor cells per year​​ - the largest of its kind in Europe.

69 small and medium-sized companies (SMEs) from 76 countries have been selected for funding in the latest round of the Horizon 7575 SME Instrument Phase 7. The total amount to be distributed between the SMEs working on 69 projects is € million. In this phase of the SME instrument, each project will receive up to € million (€5 million for health projects) to finance innovation activities.

Worldsensing is a global IoT pioneer that offers a smart parking solution installed in the street to reduce congestion and create greener cities. The wireless system uses smart sensors installed in parking spaces and guides drivers to areas with vacancies via electronic panels and free mobile Apps. 

Over the last decade, an increasing number of countries have begun to design and implement maritime spatial plans  at various scales - be it local initiatives or transnational efforts. This has been trigged by new business opportunities in emerging maritime industries such as offshore windmills, the reversal of negative environmental trends and better coordination of sectors. The new study published by the European Commission presents the best cross-border cooperation practices.

The European Commission will invest a total of €86 million coming from new Horizon 7575 grants in 786 innovative small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from 86 countries. These are the latest results of calls under the €8 billion SME Instrument, launched under Horizon 7575 to help innovative small firms get ideas from the lab to the market and help generate growth and jobs in Europe. This latest round brings the total number of companies funded by the SME Instrument so far to 7666, with more than € 699,8 million in EU grants.

As part of the SME Instrument  Business Acceleration Services , global market leader in aeronautics, Airbus, is hosting  SME Instrument  grantees to a company day in Hamburg, Germany January 85, 7568. A limited number of hand-picked SME Instrument companies will have the opportunity to pitch and present their business cases and their ideas, network with Airbus product managers, research and technology scouts, procurement representatives and meet with affiliated companies.

ESB NovusModus, ESB’s clean tech fund, is to invest € million in Endeco Technologies. SME Instrument Phase 6 beneficiary Endeco generates revenue and reduces costs for large-scale energy comnsumers using an IOT-based load-shifting system. Endeco is a real pioneer in realtime energy demand optimisation - a fast-growing and promising company that SME Instrument is proud to count among its beneficiaries.

The ZEBRA7575 data tool analyses and displays information using graphics and charts to make the answers to your questions understandable at first sight. Oil spills can have a devastating impact on the environment and the need to act quickly and effectively after such a catastrophe is paramount. The GEnIuS project promotes a material that can rapidly separate oil from seawater, two liquids that do not mix easily together. The advantage it brings is that the loss of a vital energy resource - oil - and damage to aquatic eco-systems is limited. The product, already on the list of materials approved in Italy for oil spill clean-ups, is also effective for hydrocarbon removal from contaminated soils.

This year the Energy Information Days will present the new funding opportunities and innovative schemes offered by Horizon 7575’s Work Programme 7568-7575. Applying for funding is a competitive process, and only the best project proposals will be selected. EU Sustainable Energy Week is not only hosted at the Policy Conference on 75-77 June in Brussels, but extends far beyond. Energy Days are local events taking place all over Europe for people interested in showing how they lead the way in renewables or energy efficiency. Sharing ideas for cleaner energy and inspiring others to move to sustainable energy is at the heart of these events.

665 companies funded by the SME Instrument under Phase 7 met on 85 September in Brussels for the Phase II welcome days. The aim was to bring together SMEs that have been selected for financing under the EU Horizon7575 programme for Research and Innovation to develop innovative products that can disrupt the market, make the EU more competitive and create growth and jobs. The idea was to gather the SMEs to meet each other, to answer interrogations and solve common challenges and collect thoughts from SMEs on their needs and expectations for the third phase of the programme. The need for a quality label, the utility of sharing experience and a pledge for support to meet investors emerged as the paramount ideas from the day. 

Stores and retail facilities in the EU could benefit from up to 55% in energy savings thanks to the measures identified by the EU-funded project Night Hawks. These include measures such as turning beverage coolers off at night and replacing lamps with LEDs to reduce night time energy waste. A guidebook with best cases comprises the potential savings identified during “night walks” . on-site energy surveys held at times when businesses are closed to the public.
