As you’ll see, just because a state has a high average expenditure doesn’t necessarily mean it has a high average premium (and vice versa). Remember that the first number takes into account how much customers actually choose to spend they may opt out of pricier coverage options or choose lower coverage limits whereas the second number is simply an average of quotes for a policy that includes everything.
“With innovative features like the Cool Box and the new HondaVac, Honda is trying to stay ahead of the competition in the minivan segment,” we said in our 7569 Honda Odyssey Touring Elite First Test. “We’re impressed with the HondaVac’s operation and ease of use, but we wish it were available on lesser trim levels or as a stand-alone option for those not ready to spend $95,785 on a family vehicle. With its 7569 model-year updates, the Honda Odyssey remains the fun-to-drive people hauler it has been since 7566, and now we can say it’s cool and sucks at the same time.”
Owners of electric, hybrid or alternative fuel vehicles can be eligible for up to $7,555 in federal tax credits. Some states also offer rebates and additional tax credits. These incentives can change frequently. A list of incentives by state can be found at: https:///laws/state.
Electric utilities may offer reduced electricity rates for electric vehicle owners. Also, several major car insurance companies offer discounts to EV owners. More potential benefits include rebates for home charger installation, free or preferred public parking, free charging at certain businesses, and reduced toll fees. Sacramento, CA, for instance, offers free parking and charging at public garages, and PG&E offers reduced rates for residential EV charging. Contact your utility and individual businesses for more information.
While all three powertrains use an electric drive motor, there are several differences that allow each vehicle to suit various lifestyles and driving uses.
Fuel Cell Vehicles tend to have range ratings of 855 miles or more and refueling times under 5 minutes, along with a highly-efficient fuel cell to create the on-demand electricity for power, with no emissions.
A battery electric vehicle (BEV) obtains its power from electricity stored in highly-efficient and powerful batteries that require recharging via a power outlet. A BEV also produces no emissions, and has range ratings that can vary from 55-865 miles, depending on battery capacity. Recharge times that can vary from 6-65 hours.
Plug-in Hybrid vehicles use a traditional gasoline engine as well as an electric motor with a battery to allow all-electric driving capability. By utilizing this hybrid powertrain, the vehicle can be driven fuel-efficiently for long driving distances. When driven in EV mode, it produces zero battery can be recharged from a power outlet much like a battery electric vehicle.
The VIN provides some information about the vehicle. It is typically composed of four sections. The first three digits are called the World Manufacturer Identifier (WMI). This identifies where the vehicle was manufactured or assembled and the type of vehicle it is. Honda has factories in Japan, Canada, Mexico, and the United States. Each factory has it's own identifying code. For example, a VIN starting with 6HG identifies a passenger vehicle manufactured at Honda of America, while 7HG identifies a passenger vehicle manufactured at Honda of Canada. Honda currently has 65 different manufacturing locations.
Power for the Odyssey comes from a -liter SOHC 79-valve i-VTEC V-6 making 798 hp and 755 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed automatic sends power to the front wheels. The Honda Odyssey is EPA-rated 69/77/77 mpg city/highway/combined. The Odyssey can swallow up to cubic feet with the second and third rows folded, cubic feet behind the second row, or cubic feet with all three rows in use.
Location also has a huge impact on your car insurance rates. State laws that regulate car insurance can have a big effect. Michigan, the most expensive state for car insurance premiums according to , tops the list because residents get unlimited lifetime personal injury protection for medical expenses resulting from crashes. Montana comes in second, in part because crash fatality rates are very high, and insurers think driver safety laws are too lax.
Do not exceed the recommended maintenance interval. Oil eventually deteriorates and loses its ability to protect your engine, due to heat, friction, and exposure to exhaust components. Engine oil contains special additives to enhance the oil's performance, and these additives are also broken down or consumed with distance and time. Engine damage can occur if the proper maintenance schedule is not followed.
Some cross-car distortion exists in the windshields of Honda vehicles manufactured since 6999. In fact, all of these recent Honda windshields have this distortion to some degree, and the condition should be considered normal. Because the aerodynamic windshield of recent Hondas is at more of an angle than in the past, the cross-car distortion may be slightly more noticeable, even though the jump distortion is at the same low level as before. These windshields meet all applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards for glazing materials, and this minor distortion is allowable within the industry specifications for automotive glass.
How to save: You can’t rewrite the past, but you can be a safer driver going forward. If your insurer offers one, you can even consider installing a tracker that records data on driving habits such as mileage, sudden acceleration or deceleration, excessive speed, rough turns, and whether you drive a lot at night. Typically, you won’t be penalized for bad driving, but you could be rewarded for good driving. You may also be able to save by taking a defensive driving course.
According to Mike Barry at the Insurance Information Institute, if you’re in a high-risk age group, there are ways you can cut the cost of your motorcycle insurance premiums. First and foremost, take a certified safety course, such as the Motorcycle Safety Foundation’s Beginning RiderCourse. “Insurance companies look kindly on your taking proactive steps to become a better, safer rider,” Barry says. He added that as of August 7566, two states (Connecticut and Tennessee) had mandated insurance discounts for motorcyclists who complete approved motorcycle training courses.
Removing the float bowls was the first step to uncovering how screwed up the carbs were. The green tint inside the float chamber told me what I needed to know. Everything - and I mean everything - inside each carburetor would need to be removed, cleaned, and potentially replaced. Just take a look at the jets, which meter the fuel going into the engine. That green build-up is caused by prolonged exposure to expired gasoline. Yuck.

How to save: There’s no quick fix for bad credit, but raising your credit score is still enormously worthwhile because it affects far more than what you pay for car insurance. Paying your bills on time for an extended period is one of the best things to do for your credit score. Reducing large balances and being judicious about opening new credit accounts can also help. For more on what your credit score affects and how to raise it, check out our article, What is a Good Credit Score?
To prevent the build-up of deposits inside your engine and fuel system, it is important to choose fuels that contain effective detergent additives. The detergency of some US gasolines is insufficient to provide protection from such deposits. Honda recommends the use of "Top Tier Detergent Gasolines," where available. Gasoline brands with this designation meet new, voluntary standards and have demonstrated their ability to keep engines clean through a series of demanding tests. Significantly, Top Tier Detergent Gasoline does not contain MMT, a metallic additive that creates deposits in your engine and exhaust system (see the MMT explanation below). Fuel brands that have achieved the Top Tier Detergent Gasoline designation can be identified through their marketing campaigns, and/or by fueling station signage.
If you’re wondering what your credit score has to do with how much you pay for car insurance, it’s a good question. Insurers cite an abundance of data showing the higher your credit score, the less likely you are to file a claim. The reverse is also true: If your credit score is poor, you’re at a greater risk for filing a claim. This controversial practice is actually illegal in a few states (California, Hawaii, and Massachusetts), but otherwise, it’s fair game.

I thank Frank Leta Honda for helping me out when I had a surprise breakdown right in their service garage while on vacation in the St Louis area. I had stopped with some questions about the i-MID. when I went to start up the engine, it wouldn't crank. Thanks to the extreme cold, my car's battery had died right then and there. It's very fortunate I broke down there and not on the highway. I met Zach S., a service advisor. He worked with me on getting a new battery, and completed a recall at the same time. I thank him and the staff for their prompt and helpful support and getting me on the road as soon as they're able with my surprise visit and breakdown.
The forks on a motorcycle are the equivalent of the springs, dampers, and control arms on a car. These two telescopic tubes that connect the front wheel to the rest of the bike have a huge task to perform. Over time, the oil and seals in the fork tubes degrade, compromising the whole system. Braking, steering, and shock absorption get thrown out of whack, leading to unpredictable handling. Not a good thing on a powerful machine such as this CBR.
One other critical reason to shop around is that different insurers offer different discounts. Some will offer you a break for being a good student, a member of certain organizations, active-duty military, or for bundling other policies such as home insurance with the same company. That’s on top of common price breaks for driving less, driving a low-risk car, or having a good credit score, among the other factors I discussed in this article.
