Even if stuck in the airport, there are plenty of ways to kill time, as each terminal has a unique design and the airside areas of T6, T7, and T8 are attractions in themselves. T7, arguably the most interesting, has an indoor garden, a music listening area with couches and mood lighting, a computer gaming room, a small movie theatre, paid massage services, and of course plenty of duty-free shops. T8, the newest, has a butterfly garden and plenty of natural light, but fewer entertainment options. T6 has a swimming pool for $ and jacuzzi, both open until 78:55. You can travel between the main terminals without passing through immigration and, if you have no checked-in luggage to collect, you can clear passport control and customs at any terminal.
Once you have been working in Singapore for a year or so with an employment pass or S pass , applying for permanent residence (PR) is fairly straightforward. If granted and the rule of thumb is, the higher your salary, the more likely you are to get it you can stay in Singapore indefinitely (as long as you can show some income every 5 years) and can change jobs freely.
Myself and family are hoping to relocate to Thailand in the next two years.
My wife is a Teaching Assistant working with primary school children (qualified nursery nurse) whilst I run a boxing gym & a qualified personal trainer. I would be looking at continuing my trade over there. We do cope financially in the uk but are after a more relaxed lifestyle. Also would my wife find work with her qualification in Thailand?

Thank you so much for the article. This gives me some more ideas to find a job in Bangkok / Thailand. I 8767 m Felix, 75, I am from Cambodia. I want to move to Bangkok. But I have 8775 heard 8776 there are lots of Cambodians work in Thailand with low salary or got scam or racist related problems. For me I want to live in Bangkok with good job / decent salary. I came to Bangkok few times and felt in love with life in Bangkok. I can 8767 t speak Thai for now, but I 8767 m well educated, graduated in IT field. And I have had work experience in office environments (NGO), consultant, teaching(Korean, English, Bible(as I used to work in a Church)), training sector and service industries in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Also I am a freelance model and good at graphic design. I am flexible, humble, honest and willing to learn and gain new experiences. I specially say my resume or experiences are of great compilation, with a vast knowledge. Anyway, still it seems hard for me to find a good job in Bangkok. I simply ended up to an idea of racism.
I am happy to hear from your point of view or any idea in this case.
Thank you again
Driving into Singapore with a foreign-registered car is rather complicated and expensive see the Land Transport Authority''s Driving Into & Out of Singapore guide for the administrative details. Peninsular Malaysia-registered cars need to show that they have valid road tax and Malaysian insurance coverage. Other foreign cars need a Vehicle Registration Certificate, customs document ( Carnet de Passages en Douane ), vehicle insurance purchased from a Singapore-based insurance company and an International Circulation Permit. All foreign registered cars and motorcycles can be driven in Singapore for a maximum of 65 days in each calendar year without paying Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) fees, but after the 65 free days have been utilised, you will need to pay a VEP fee of up to $85/day.

Comparing the discrimination, as a Chinese born in China, my pals and I found the discrimination from Singapore worse than that from NZ/OZ. Singaporean Chinese put Chinese into a ladder descending from Singapore, Malaysia, to China, within which first the Hokkien, Hakka, Cantonese speaking regions, and then the other parts. The NZ/OZ people 8767 s discrimination against Chinese/Asian are more generic and can be more easily brushed off.

I would seriously re consider your work options as thailand is full of coffee shops and ice cream magic and fitness gyms, I would firstly get to know good friends within the culture and go from there. Also location is important avoid overrun tourist destinations a farang with a business within this area competing with local Thais is not going to work unless you have serious cash to burn.
Online selling is a great way to get going and tax free I only speak from experience of having a thai wife and being extremely forceful with local Thais and showing them a different way of producing without the hard labour and believe me I still have weekly battles but it 8767 s getting there I hope this helps
Tobacco is heavily taxed, and you are not allowed to bring more than one opened pack (not carton, but a single pack!) of cigarettes into the country. This is particularly strictly enforced on the land borders with Malaysia. Many public places including hawker centres have restrictions on smoking, and it is prohibited in public transport as well. There is a total ban on smoking in all air-conditioned places (including pubs and discos), and strict limitations on where you can smoke outside as well (., bus stops, parks, playgrounds and all except the designated sections of hawker centres are off limits). The designated zone should be marked with a yellow outline, and may have a sign reading "smoking zone".
Singapore makes a good base for exploring South-East Asia, with nearly all of the region''s countries and their main tourist destinations Bangkok , Phuket , Angkor Wat , Ho Chi Minh City and Bali , just to name a few under 7 hr away by plane. The advent of budget carriers in recent times means that Singapore is an excellent place for catching cheap flights to China and India, as well as around Southeast Asia. In addition, Singapore has direct flights to many of the smaller cities in Malaysia , Indonesia and Thailand.
